Call for Abstracts: Share Your Research at ORP-5

The ORP-5 International Rice Conference 2026 invites researchers, practitioners, and innovators from around the world to submit abstracts for presentation at the conference. This call for papers represents a unique opportunity to share your work with the most engaged and knowledgeable audience in the organic rice sector. Conference Thematic Tracks

ORP-5 features 15 thematic tracks, each curated by a distinguished track chair. Abstracts should be submitted to the track most relevant to the research content:

Scientific and Technical Tracks

1. Climate-Resilient Organic Rice Systems — Research on rice varieties, management practices, and systems approaches that enhance resilience to climate change
2. Soil Microbiome and Fertility Management — Studies on soil biological processes, organic amendments, composting, and fertility management for organic rice
3. Water Management in Paddy Cultivation — Research on irrigation techniques, water-saving methods, and water quality management for organic rice systems
4. Organic Pest and Disease Management — Biological control, cultural practices, and approved organic treatments for rice pest and disease management

Submission Guidelines

Abstract Format

• Length: 300–500 words (excluding title and author information)
• Structure: Background, Objectives, Methods, Results, Conclusions (BOmRC format)
• Language: English (professional editing recommended for non-native English speakers)
• Keywords: 3–5 keywords for indexing and search purposes

Submission Requirements

• Original Work: Abstracts must present original research not previously published or presented at a major conference
• Author Information: Full names, affiliations, email addresses, and ORCID identifiers for all authors
• Presenter Confirmation: The designated presenting author must confirm availability to attend ORP-5 and present in person
• Single Submission: Each researcher may submit a maximum of two abstracts as lead author

Submission Process

1. Create Account — Register on the ORP-5 abstract submission portal at orp5ic.com/themes
2. Select Track — Choose the most appropriate thematic track for your research
3. Enter Abstract — Complete the online submission form with title, authors, abstract text, and keywords
4. Upload Supplementary Material — Optional: upload figures, tables, or supplementary information that support the abstract
5. Review and Submit — Review your submission carefully and submit before the deadline

Key Deadlines

• Abstract Submission Opens: January 15, 2026
• Abstract Submission Deadline: March 15, 2026
• Peer Review Period: March 16 – April 15, 2026
• Acceptance Notification: April 20, 2026
• Presenter Registration Deadline: May 15, 2026 (required for abstract to be included in proceedings)
• Full Paper Submission (optional): June 1, 2026

The Review Process

All submitted abstracts undergo rigorous peer review by the ORP-5 Scientific Committee:

1. Initial Screening — Verification of formatting, eligibility, and relevance to the selected track
2. Expert Review — Each abstract is reviewed by two independent experts in the relevant field
3. Track Chair Evaluation — Track chairs evaluate accepted abstracts for thematic coherence and presentation quality
4. Acceptance Decision — Abstracts are accepted for oral presentation, poster presentation, or rejected with feedback

Approximately 60% of submitted abstracts are accepted for presentation at ORP-5. Rejection rates vary by track and year. Rejected abstracts receive constructive feedback that can help improve future submissions.

Presentation Formats

• Oral Presentations: 15-minute presentation followed by 5 minutes of Q&A
• Poster Presentations: Poster display with a dedicated 60-minute poster session for discussion with interested attendees
• Workshop Proposals: 90-minute interactive workshops on specific topics (submitted separately from research abstracts)

Tips for a Successful Submission

• Be Specific — Vague or overly broad abstracts are less likely to be accepted; focus on a clear research question and specific findings
• Highlight Novelty — Clearly state what is new about your research compared to existing work
• Quantify Results — Include specific numbers, percentages, or statistical findings in the abstract
• Connect to ORP-5 Themes — Show how your research relates to the conference themes of organic and natural rice production
• Proofread Carefully — Language errors and poor formatting negatively impact review scores; have a colleague review your abstract before submission
• Submit Early — Last-minute submissions often contain avoidable errors; submit at least one week before the deadline
